“THESEUS” SYSTEM ®FK-5-1-12
FK-5-1-12 is an odorless, colorless, electrically uneditable liquid that evaporates rapidly. It was designed as a substitute for Halon. It has little impact on the environment and negligible impact on the greenhouse effect and has a lower concentration and greater safety margin than Halon. Its effect on Ozone is zero, and its lifespan in the atmosphere is extremely low, only 5 days. This makes it an Environmentally Friendly Extinguishing Material.
Certified in its entirety according to VDS This material is designed to protect equipment of sensitive and important spaces, telecommunications equipment as well as museums, archives, etc., which would suffer irreparable damage if they use traditional sprinkler extinguishing systems. It has the appearance of water (it is liquid at atmospheric pressure), it is poured and flows in a similar way, but it does not rain objects therefore it does not cause damage to the equipment. It is particularly useful in extinguishing fires in which the use of water would cause more damage than the fire itself or in cases where the use of water is not feasible such as banks, museums and hospitals. An electronic device can be immersed in a container with FK-5-1-12 without suffering the slightest damage – for this reason this material is widely used in fire safety systems, computers, data processing centers, etc. The material is stored in Cylinders as a compressed liquid with Nitrogen and when released it is converted into a colorless and odorless gas. In the FK-5-1-12 system, the cylinders are under pressure with dry Nitrogen at 24bar or 42bar (at 20ºC). This pressure allows the use of ordinary pipes and fittings reducing installation costs.
