HFC-227 EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM FOR MARINERS

Firefighting Systems Clean Agent Total Flooding Studies conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard show that nearly 90% of fires on boats start in the engine room. The same studies show that only one in ten boat fires is successfully extinguished with typical portable dry dust fire extinguishers. This is due to the inherent difficulties when manually extinguishing the fire. In addition, dry dust fire extinguishers leave dust residues capable of causing damage to the engine and sensitive electronic equipment. HFC-227ea & FE-241 fire extinguishing systems are a Safe and Effective Solution for the Protection of the Boat Engine Room

The System is activated thermally (without manual intervention) at 79ºC by defusing the Clean Agent gas much faster compared to the Reaction Time of the Boat's Crew, resulting in faster extinguishing and less damage (the material leaves no residue such as dust). Clean Agents: FE-241® vs. HFC-227ea There is a choice between two clean agent extinguishing materials (Halon substitutes). FE-241® (chlorotetrafluoroethane) is approved for sites where there is no human presence (such as machinery spaces) and has been approved for use in the USA.

HFC-227ea (heptafluoropropane) is also approved for places where there is no human presence and its use has been approved in European Union countries and in many other countries due to its zero impact on ozone. Both FE-241® and HFC-227ea are considered substitutes for Halon, according to the EPA's SNAP program. The advantages of the Clean Agent system for Shipping

– The release is automatic at 79°C

– Total bedtime in the engine room takes place in less than 10 seconds to quickly limit the fire

– The Clean Agent gas, a substitute for Halon (FE-241® or HFC-227ea) leaves no harmful residues

– Protection in small motor boats but also in large yachts with engine rooms from 0,7m³ to 85m³.

– Many insurance companies offer a reduced premium (discount) for the insurance of vessels already protected by a extinguishing system

– The system includes bottles that can be retrethamed. However, the bottles that have been used on fire are not retagomable.

– 3 year warranty approvals &certifications

The MOBIAK HFC System is approved by FM, U.S.C.G and Bureau Veritas. In addition, all systems containing HFC-227ea are approved according to EN ISO 9094-1 and EN ISO 9094-2 by Bureau Veritas, RINA, FM and are CE certified. Choosing the system that suits you There are 3 series of MOBIAK available:

MA2 Series – Automatic release with option for manual activation when using the Manual Activation Cable – Under protection Space up to 42m³ – Installation in vertical or horizontal layout – FE-241® or

HFC-227ea CG2 Series – Automatic activation only – Space up to 28m³ – Installation in a vertical or horizontal layout – FE-241® or

HFC-227ea GA Series – Two (2) bottle system for larger vessels with engine room from 42m³ to 85m³ – The bottles are connected to flexible stainless steel tubes, to allow the almost simultaneous activation of both bottles

– Use of Manual Activation Cables required – Installation only in a vertical layout – Only HFC-227ea
